The Agency Awards are the Australian Digital Health Agency's annual staff awards, and 2026 marked the event's tenth anniversary — a milestone celebrated under the theme 'A Decade of Impact'. I created every video and animation asset for the show: the hero graphics, the opener, the category stings, the winner reveals, and everything in between.
One show, three cities
This wasn't a single-room event. The awards ran simultaneously as in-person ceremonies across the Agency's Sydney, Brisbane and Canberra offices, with an onsite production crew filming in each location. Every feed streamed back to a single mixer, where the show was live-stitched into one continuous broadcast and recast to all three offices — so every audience watched the same program, woven together from all three rooms in real time.
That format shaped the entire animation package. Assets had to behave like broadcast television: openers, stings, holds and transitions built to exact timings, designed to be switched to live with no second takes. Hold screens needed to carry a room through handovers between cities, and every piece had to cut cleanly against live camera feeds.
The full animation package
I designed and animated everything that appeared on screen across the ceremony: the awards opener, intro sequences for the Board Chair and the awards themselves, individual stings for each award category — Leadership, Collaboration, Innovation, Integrity and Culture — the CEO Award, winner graphics and reveal animations, lower thirds for presenters and winners, hold screens, and looping content for the television screens dressed around each venue.
The centrepiece was the 'Decade of Impact' retrospective — a montage celebrating ten years of the event and the Agency's people, drawing on a decade of archival photography and footage, capped off with a curtain-call sequence to close the night.
Designing for the room and the stream
Every asset had to work in two places at once: projected large in three physical venues and compressed into a live stream. That meant type sized for legibility at the back of a room, safe margins so lower thirds survived every screen they landed on, and a colour and motion language bold enough to feel celebratory on stage while staying firmly within the Agency's brand — a system I know well, having authored its brand guidelines.
The night ran as one seamless show across three cities, and the animation package held it together — from the first frame of the opener to the final curtain call.
