A comprehensive redesign of the Australian Government’s 1800medicare app user interface, formerly known as My Health App. My primary objective was to modernise a legacy system into a streamlined mobile experience that prioritises data accessibility and user autonomy. By transitioning away from a rigid, utility-based layout, the new design adopts a clean SaaS aesthetic that balances high density information with intuitive navigation.
Central to the redesign is a variable dashboard that adapts to specific user needs. Recognising that a patient managing chronic conditions has different requirements than a healthy young adult, I implemented a customisable interface. Users can pin high priority Quick Actions like the Symptom Checker or Medical History. This modular approach ensures that the most relevant data, such as active prescriptions or recent test results, is surfaced immediately upon login to improve the utility of the application.
To support the new variable dashboard, I introduced a refined onboarding sequence designed to capture user preferences and health priorities. The visual language was updated to a modern aesthetic, utilising a soft colour palette, generous white space, and clear iconography to instill a sense of professional reliability and security.
